Jameka understands the importance of attracting business and commerce to Hamden to offset the tax burden on residents. Our focus will be on sectors like AI and other emerging industries to revitalize Hamden’s economy by:
–Launching a Business Resource Center for local entrepreneurs
–Supporting minority- and women-owned businesses
–Reviving commercial corridors through smart redevelopment

Housing Revitalization
Hamden needs real solutions to address housing challenges. By leveraging community, state, and federal resources, Jameka will tackle blighted properties and identify land for responsible revitalization. Jameka will:
-Conduct a full municipal audit to find inefficiencies
-Explore shared services with nearby towns to cut costs without cutting quality
-Create a Resident Tax Relief Task Force to recommend actionable solutions

Town Beautification
Jameka will restore Hamden’s reputation as a town known for beauty and excellence through giving proper attention to our streets, sidewalks, bus stops, parks, and recreational facilities. She will modernize infrastructure and protect our environment by:
-Investing in parks, green spaces, and community beautification
-Securing grants for road, and clean energy improvements
-Launching a “Clean & Green Hamden” campaign with local volunteers

Stronger Schools & Youth Opportunities
Jameka is committed to strengthening the support systems our school administration, faculty, and staff need to help students succeed. Investing in our youth is investing in Hamden’s future. Jameka will:
-Establish a Youth Cabinet to elevate student voices and ideas
Expand afterschool, mentorship, and job training programs
-Work with the BOE and community to improve accountability

Career Preparation
While traditional college will be the path for many, Jameka recognizes that others will thrive in alternative career routes. As Mayor, she will:
-Forge new partnerships with universities, trade schools, and learning centers
-Establish scholarship programs for Hamden’s deserving students
-Expand career exploration and technical education opportunities across sectors

Leadership & Youth Investment
Residents deserve a mayor who listens and leads with integrity — and young people deserve a town that invests in them. Jameka will:
-Invest in safe, creative spaces for year-round enrichment
-Launch a “Transparent Hamden” portal with real-time data on spending and progress
-Hold monthly “Mayor Listens” meetings in every district to stay connected to residents

Supporting Vulnerable Community Members
Jameka understands the importance of providing healing and hope for Hamden’s most vulnerable residents — including the unhoused, those facing mental health challenges, and our senior citizens. She is committed to:
-Ensuring that older residents are heard, valued, and supported with dignity
-Expanding services for the unhoused and those living with mental illness
-Addressing food insecurity, especially among seniors who often suffer in silence

Safe Streets & Community Trust
During her first 100 days in office, Jameka will meet with the Chief of Police and leadership team to establish a united front — reaffirming support for those who serve with integrity, respect for human life, and dignity for all residents. Jameka’s plan includes:
-Launching community safety forums and public dashboards for transparency-Rebuilding trust between law enforcement and the community
